Connecting your Jortt administration
In Schakel you click Connect with Jortt, sign in at Jortt and approve the access. That is all, usually within a minute. You do not have to create an application yourself or copy anything across.
What you end up withA connected Jortt administration in Schakel, with no client ID or secret involved.
- 01
Click Connect with Jortt
In Schakel, go to Connections and click Connect with Jortt in the Jortt block. That takes you to Jortt itself; there is nothing to fill in on this screen.
- 02
Sign in at Jortt
Sign in with the account your administration sits under. If you are already signed in, Jortt skips this step. If you have several administrations, sign in to the one you want to connect: you connect one at a time and can add the others the same way afterwards.
- 03
Approve the access
Jortt shows what Schakel may do: read and write customers, invoices and expenses, and read your organisation details. That is exactly what booking a sale as an invoice and filing your marketplace costs as expenses needs. Approve it and you land back in Schakel, with the name of your administration shown.
Worth knowing
- Confirm the sender address of your administration in Jortt, under Instellingen and Facturen. Until that is confirmed Jortt creates every invoice but never finalises it: your revenue then sits in Jortt as a draft and does not count towards your VAT return. Schakel shows that on the dashboard rather than reporting success.
- Your buyer is never emailed. Schakel finalises the invoice with the method Jortt calls "I will send it myself", so it gets a number and counts, without anything going out.
- Jortt keeps books in euro only. If you sell on your marketplace in dollars or pounds, Schakel skips those orders with a reason rather than booking them at an invented rate. There is no paid option at Jortt to switch that on.
- If One Stop Shop is switched on in Jortt, Schakel charges the buyer country rate on a sale to a consumer in another EU country. If it is off, your own rate. Schakel reads that setting from your administration; you do not have to copy it across.
- You connect one administration at a time. If you have several in Jortt, repeat the three steps above and sign in to the administration you want to add each time.
- Prefer your own API application? That still works. On the Connections page choose Use your own application and paste the client ID and secret you create in Jortt under Instellingen, API. It is no longer necessary and it is more work: the secret cannot be retrieved after creation, and you have to tick every permission yourself.
- If you withdraw the access inside Jortt, the connector stops booking and Schakel says so on the Connections page. Connecting again repairs it; your settings and your connector stay as they were.
If something goes wrong
- I land back in Schakel with no administration connected.
- The access was declined, or the screen sat open too long: the request expires after ten minutes. Just click Connect with Jortt again. Nothing is stored half way.
- I connected the wrong administration by mistake.
- Remove it on the Connections page and connect again, signed in to the right administration. If a connector is already attached to it, detach that first.
- Schakel says the client ID and secret do not work.
- This only applies to your own API application. A half-copied secret is the usual cause, and it cannot be retrieved after creation. Create a new application and paste both values again, or use the Connect with Jortt button and skip the copying altogether.
- My invoices stay drafts in Jortt.
- Confirm the sender address of your administration in Jortt, under Instellingen and Facturen. Jortt finalises no invoice at all until that is done. Once it is confirmed, Schakel finalises the waiting drafts on the next sync; nothing is created twice.
- I do not see my Etsy costs in Jortt.
- Booking marketplace costs is off by default, so you do not get them twice if your accountant already processes the monthly invoice. Switch it on in the connector settings and pick the cost account there.
